To celebrate the near end of this bleak month of February we are giving away this NBFG x Addict Cloudburst Methodzip hoodie, (size Medium) released last year and now hard to find. Sorry, it’s not waterproof, but you’ll look good and it’ll keep you toasty and warm… x

Terms of Entry
All you have to do to enter the draw is to tell us what the weather is like where you are and what you are doing. Then post as a comment below. For example: ‘It’s raining in London so I’m staying in and posting up an NBFG giveaway’. The winner will be selected at random on 29th March. Good luck!

The Rose Script release

Posted in: Features & Projects, KJ's Blog by KJ on January 29th, 2010

It’s time for us to roll our sleeves up and get cracking. The first NBFG release for 2010 is here. The Rose Script tees featured earlier this month and are now available to purchase. And this release is the first release to feature the ‘roll up’ sleeve revealing a hidden NBFG monogram print – yes, you saw it all here first.

The Rose Script tees are available in two colours; the ‘Standard Issue’ edition in black with white print, plus a special ‘Limited Love’ edition in red with yellow print. Both have been produced in limited numbers and are only available from the online shop, here at Not Bad For a Girl.

Hello 2010 *<:o)x

Posted in: KJ's Blog by KJ on January 1st, 2010

During the past six months or so things have been bubbling away behind the scenes at NBFG; a whole bunch of conceptualising, formulating and transmogrifying tasty treats for 2010. When the brand was established in ’06 it quickly took off, providing seasonal line drops and juicy creative colabs right up until the beginning of ’09, when we took a well deserved time out. It’s all too easy to get caught up in day to day demands and lose sight of the original motivations, so this year we will be doing things a little differently. Instead the drops will be more focused, perfectly crafted and wont necessarily follow seasonal timings; keeping projects spontaneous, the editions super low and the concept and design quality high as a kite. We wont be making anything in big numbers as we know that our circle of ladies are the rare ones. So look out next week for the preview of our first 2010 drop and remember to keep in touch by subscribing to the news feed via our RSS or joining the NBFG Circle mailout…

Peace and love to the NBFG Circle for continued support from the beginning and a Happy New Year, Gelukkig Nieuwjaar, Prosit Neujahr, Bonne Annee to one and all.

Pop-up drop: Roxanne tee

Posted in: KJ's Blog by KJ on November 23rd, 2009

Now that we are busy preparing for our new drops next year I thought I’d post the odd special item here in the blog. Not only because these pieces are super rare and a real treat, but also because you’ve been asking for product and who am I to be holding back on you guys? Especially at Christmas. So this is an opportunity to get hold of NBFG’s all time classics without leaving the comfort of your sofa.

First up the Roxanne battle shirt, still getting props from all angles and impossible to find anywhere. Find out more about it in the archive here. This is my last one in the original first edition red on white colourway, in size medium. Recently located in a reserved parcel for a customer that never collected, so here’s your chance to pick it up. Who wins?

Free stuff, I still love you…

Posted in: KJ's Blog, Monthly Gift by KJ on October 21st, 2009

sticker_face

In fact I never stopped. So if you too would like to show some love for some freeness (stickers this time, but more to come) send me your address and I’ll send ‘em out gratis, ’til this box is empty. This sticker almost fills my entire face, which seemed like a good idea at the time.

*** U P D A T E ***
All done! No more free stickers, the cupboard is bare, the freebee box is empty and all is in the post. I will apologise in advance for our UK lame-o postal issues. But if you ordered before Nov 20th, they will come.

Longest ten mins ever, resulting in mega-sale!

Posted in: KJ's Blog by KJ on July 4th, 2009

sale

A wise old lady once said to me, ‘when it is this hot you have to take it nice and slow, you certainly can’t rush things’. And crikey was she right. So after a nice leisurely lunch break in the sun, chatting to friends, laying on the grass, supping cool beers, we are finally back to open up shop. Back in full effect you could almost say. We were gonna hold off till the new pieces were in, but we got a bit of a head rush from the icepops / beer / sun and thought lets have a mega-sale! Wild, I know. So these are the last one’s and two’s from the last line, and everything is discounted my friends. So if you spend £25 you get 25% off and if you spend £50 and over you get a mega 50% off. Ooo, I do love it when numbers match. This basically means 1 tee is £18.75, but 2 is only £25. (The discount is added at the shopping cart stage). Bargain garms for you, space for new stock for us. Hey guys, what’s not to like?

***Sunday update***
Not much at all left in the shop now, thanks to all the quick responding bargain hunters yesterday. So we’re just going to make everything that is left a flat 50% off. Kaboom! Sorry if you tried to get something yesterday and it sold out before you could check out, that’s just the way it goes at a mega-sale!

Shop closed. Back in 10mins…

Posted in: KJ's Blog by KJ on June 11th, 2009

Ok, so we have Exhibit A, a new site, and Exhibit B an archive of stuff. But where’s the shop bit? Well it’s coming. Maybe not in 10 mins, but it is, I just wanted to get the site up first. And next I’m going to give some items away. Because I like doing that a whole lot. But whilst I am in the thick of designing, I *may* be open to the odd product request. Drop me a line, say hiyee…

Actually I just reread this and realised that ‘coming soon’ is like a total website cliche. Sorry about that. So what I am saying is if there was product here before that you missed out on, drop me a mail and I’ll check and see if we have any left here in stock. Or if you want the mail for when we re-open join the mailing list to the right —>
Tis all. x

Previously on NBFG

Posted in: KJ's Blog by KJ on May 21st, 2009

Oh hai guys, where was I? Oh yes, brand new NBFG action. As this feels like a new chapter I’m going to have a little recap, for those of you that may have missed earlier stuff. I started NBFG back in 2006, when I was a self-employed designer with a love for typography, photography, rare rapology, garms and snazzy trainers. Yeah I’m gonna call them trainers, but you might call them ‘sneakers’, ‘kicks’ or ‘creps’. I like ‘trainers’ though, it makes me think of that first pair of unbranded navy-blue Woolies pumps glamorously offset with a fluorescent sock, and anyway it’s more true to my roots. Actually ‘pumps’ is a good word too, but I digress.

What I am saying is I would have been a dime a dozen had I been a chap, but back then I was a rarity; a nerdy-bird and it felt gooood. Which is why I started describing myself as ‘Not Bad For a Girl’ in the first place. 50% tongue in cheek and 50% provocation. I blame my older brother for everything of course. Ha! Nowadays I am still a designer, but also a maker and a doer. And NBFG is more about other things too like creative collaborations; discovering new ideas and themes; making quality limited edition products and less about grinding any axes. Well, maybe just occasionally.

Are you sitting comfortably?

Posted in: KJ's Blog by KJ on May 20th, 2009

Here have a cushion. Man, this has been major loooong. Had a bit of a set back at the beginning of the year, which was enough to knock everything out of kilter, for like 6 months. Not cool. It’s practically impossible to spin plates and juggle at the same time, if you get what I’m saying. It’s just not going to happen is it? And as the people who know me know, I can’t half-do things. So sometimes it’s just better to stop, put everything down and pick it up again later. Like now. But enough metaphoric babble, here we are, brand new NBFG action, starting from scratch. I missed you guys. So, are you sitting comfortably? Then we’ll begin…
